Phoenix and Scottsdale Among Best Places in U.S. to Retire
If you're a food, wine and craft beer enthusiast, you'll definitely have an appetite for the Scottsdale Culinary Festival. The popular two-day event occurs at the Scottsdale Civic Center Mall beginning Saturday, April 13 from noon to 9:00 p.m. and Sunday, April 14 from noon to 6:00 p.m. Celebrating its 41st year, the event features cuisine from over 35 restaurants and adult beverages from 30 craft breweries, wineries and distilleries. Culinary demonstrations by notable chefs and a teen cooking challenge are taking place to spice up the weekend. If you love music, the festival is also featuring entertainment on three stages. GET YOUR "EAT" ON If you love BBQ, save room for samplings from Bobby-Q BBQ, Pork on a Fork, Honey Bear’s BBQ, Trapp Haus BBQ. American-inspired fare includes menu items from Aioli’s Gourmet Burgers, the Crepe Club, Famous 48 and Pitch. If you're in the mood for Latin cuisine check out Susie's Mexican Cafe, Social Hall, La Señora, Loco Patrõn and Rodizio Grill. Asian-inspired fare includes dishes from Sushi Roku, Kasai Asian Grill and PokiTrition. If you have pizza on the brain, stop by and Grimaldi’s or Famous 48. Walk up delights are available from these food trucks: Bored Baker Pizza Maker Wood Fired Pizza, Don Jose’ Mexican Food, Floridinos Pizza & Pasta, Jeztecos and Kono Pizza. And satisfy your sweet tooth with treats from Butta Cakes, SO Delicious Dairy Free, Nina's Concessions and The Nitro Live Ice Creamery. CRAFT BEER, WINERIES AND OTHER SPIRITS Quench your thirst via 30 adult beverage providers, including local purveyors like Arizona Light Lager, Barrio Brewing Co., Callaghan Vineyards, Hop Valley Brewing Co., Crush Craft Cider Co., Huss Brewing Co., Mother Road Brewing Co., Lumberyard Brewing Co., Mudshark Brewery, Oak Creek Brewing Co., Truly Hard Seltzer and Loco Patrõn Brewery. The longest-running festival of its type in the nation, the event raises money and then gives those proceeds to local arts non-profit organizations. The grant funding supports thousands through the 25 selected organizations, serving at-risk youth, aspiring playwrights, young composers, hospitalized children and more.
